The Baby Shark phenomenon doesn’t look like it is going away any time soon.
The kid-friendly viral sensation bit into the Billboard Top 100 earlier this month and now, Pinkfong, the team behind the phenomenon, said that they are now producing a series of short Baby Shark videos on Netflix, as well as a cartoon series.
No official release date has been announced.
The song gained widespread notoriety after it inspired a viral video trend, the Baby Shark Dance Challenge. This Christmas, the Baby Shark Singing Plush Doll from WowWee, which was only available during an Amazon presale, sold out in less than 72 hours and was quickly selling online for $200 or more on the resale market.
Pinkfong founder Seungkye Lee also shared that his company will be developing content for older kids, ages 5-8.
“We’ve added the “K-pop factor” into our songs, such as very trendy beats and upbeat rhythms”, Seungkyu Lee, chief financial officer of SmartStudy Co’s Pinkfong, told Forbes Magazine.
