Shark finatics of all ages will be able to get their toothy fix this weekend when Skark-Con returns to the Florida Fair Grounds in Tampa on July 8 and 9.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
The annual event, now in its fourth year, is presented by The Florida Aquarium in Tampa and will feature dozens of interactive and educational exhibits including a shark touch tank, fossil digs, slides, bounce houses and rides.
The exhibit hall will feature presentation from 13 leading shark and ocean conservation groups such as Sharks4Kids, Tampa Bay Watch, and Shark Angels, as well as leading outdoors and recreational vendors.
There will also be a pool for beginners to try out SCUBA diving on premises.
Tickets can be purchased for $14.95 for a single day adult pass, $19.95 for a two-day adult pass, and $4.99 for a one-day child pass or $7.50 for a two-day child pass for kids 13 and under. Proceeds will benefit the Florida Aquarium shark and coral rehabilitation programs and OCEARCH Shark Expedition Research.
According to event coordinators, “the goal behind SharkCon is to raise awareness for ocean conservation by bringing in the general public and ocean enthusiast together to inspire a love of the ocean with general public through interactions with experts and exhibits and enthusiasts. For enthusiast, it will be an annual experience where they can celebrate their love of the ocean in a fun environment and a chance for them to hear their hero’s speak.”
Among the guest speakers are Shark Week veterans Jillians and Duncan Brake, Jeff Carrier and Eli Martinez, Sharknado director Anthony Ferrante and biologists Jennifer Cotton and Stephen Kaijura.
